Changes to the Challenge

52 Ancestors in 52 WeeksAs you might know, I’ve been contemplating some changes with the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks Challenge. Specifically, what to do about the weekly recap. It takes several hours each week to compile and, though I enjoy doing it, I simply don’t have the time that I can devote to that.

Instead of me compiling the weekly recap, I’m going to do like I did while I was away in early June. I will publish a post each Wednesday morning and everyone can leave links to their 52 Ancestors posts in the comments.

Two suggestions when you leave a link:

  1. Put the surname in ALL CAPS to make it easier for people to scan through the comments. (You want to make it easy for cousins to find you!)
  2. If you have more than one post in a week, leave each link as a separate comment. My spam filter tends to put things with multiple links into the spam folder.

Thank you for understanding the need for this change. And keep writing! That’s what this is all about!

Do we put our recent posts all in one as a reply to your coming Post on next Wednesday then?

Yes, I’ll have a post on Wednesday. If you have more than one post, you should put each one in a separate comment/reply so that it doesn’t end up in the spam filter. Thanks!

Thanks so much, Amy! I can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed the recaps and exploring folks’ family stories. Your blog and the 52 challenge inspired me to finally begin my own blog to share all the great research my mother put together over the course of 30 years. I’m so glad you found a workable solution for the recap.

Thank you so much Amy! I will never be able to thank you enough for all you have done! Due to you I have 30 mini-biographies (so far – I’m going back to school one night a week for 9 months starting in October to get a Certificate in Genealogy from the University of Washington while working full time – I am trying to get a few ahead just in case!) As I research other family members I make corrections to the ones I have done or fill in more details. I wouldn’t have any without your challenge. I have spent hours doing research that wouldn’t have happened until I retired (if then.) Thank you, thank you!
